The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is looking for a proactive and highly organised Quality Assurance Coordinator (Theory Exams) to join our Theory and Standards team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced examinations or assessment professional who thrives in managing complex processes, ensuring accuracy and high standards, and working collaboratively with clinical and academic experts.

 

The Theory and Standards team develop, deliver and quality assure the theory examinations and assessments run by the College. Within this, the Quality Assurance team is responsible for developing and managing theory exam questions and assessment material for the MRCPCH (Membership Examination) and the RCPCH Start assessment.

 

As Quality Assurance Coordinator (Theory Exams), you will play a key role in overseeing the development, management and delivery of high-quality written examination materials. You will take ownership of the question banking system, coordinate question generation and review processes, and ensure examinations are set in line with blueprints and learning outcomes. Working closely with clinicians, committees and subject matter experts, you will lead recruitment and training for question writers and reviewers, ensuring the smooth running of theory exam development from start to finish.

 

We are seeking a detail-focused, analytical and collaborative professional who can manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain rigorous standards of accuracy and quality. You will be confident in managing stakeholders, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working in a role that combines administration, coordination, and quality assurance.

 

Essential skills and experience include:
• Experience in an examinations or assessment question-setting environment
• Experience managing large volumes of written material accurately and consistently
• Strong understanding of assessment material development cycles and question banking systems
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to deliver multiple objectives to high standards under tight deadlines
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and databases
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Ability to travel within the UK when required

 

Desirable:
• Educated to A-Level or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of assessment development and improvement processes
• Experience running committees, panels or working groups to defined outputs
