Job Description

Based within the Research and Evidence team, the Digital Healthcare Manager is a new role leading the development of the RCPCH Digital Health programme. Through analysis of survey data, the Digital Health programme aims to understand the range of technologies in use by the membership and provide details of key digital solutions. The programme also aims to understand the digital confidence and competence of the membership and support the workforce to embrace and implement digital health technologies into clinical practice.

 

Experience of project management is essential, together with a good understanding of the digital health technologies landscape. Working closely with senior clinicians, including the Vice President for Science and Research and the Officer for Digital Health and Technology, you will lead a series of surveys and activities to feed into the development and delivery of a platform detailing digital solutions.

 

You will have experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and key academic, medical and public sector committees to increase awareness of solutions available and identify where there are significant gaps in technologies available. You will also present findings to a range of stakeholders with different levels of understanding, therefore knowledge of subject matter is essential. Working closely with communication colleagues, you will identify opportunities to inform paediatricians of developments with RCPCH Digital Health and opportunities.

 

You will be used to working autonomously, have excellent written and communication skills, and strong problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and delivery of the RCPCH Digital Health programme, including leading activities related to the integration of digital health technologies into mainstream paediatrics.
  2. Participate in relevant Committees and working groups, ensuring adherence to College governance procedures, including reporting to Project Boards on progress against agreed timelines and deliverables, risks and issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  3. Work with colleagues internally and externally to support building capacity and capability by embedding digital skills into the paediatric workforce and the development of education and training resources for paediatricians.
  4. Build relationships with external stakeholders and act as a representative of the College on external working groups/committees to represent the views of paediatricians, and by attending external events e.g. conferences.
  5. Horizon scan and identify at an early stage new and emerging developments in digital health.
  6. Work with the Head of Grants and Partnerships to identify sources of funding to support future work within the Research and Evidence remit.
  7. Work with communications colleagues to create and implement communication plans and resources/assets related to the RCPCH Digital Health.
  8. Respond to member queries about paediatric digital health.
  9. Deputise for the Head of Research and Evidence and undertake any other tasks as required.

 

Skills Required

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience with a research, health science, digital healthcare component
  • Experience of producing high quality written reports, documentation and promotional information suitable for a range of audiences
  • Experience of collaborative ways of working across multidisciplinary teams and programmes of work
  • Ability to manage competing demands and conflicts whilst maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and deal with information that is of a confidential/sensitive nature
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – and ability to influence and persuade a range of stakeholders with different levels of understanding and knowledge about complex issues
  • Demonstrable programme management and skills, capable of working autonomously and taking personal responsibility for own projects
  • Ability to deliver multiple objectives within short time frames to high standards and to meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent proven organisational skills and an ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work paying careful attention to detail and ability to following standard procedures and ways of working

Desirable

  • Knowledge of research methodology, including literature searching and data analysis
  • Project management qualification/certification
  • An understanding of the education and training pathways of paediatric healthcare professionals
